You wouldn't go to a podiatrist for heart surgery, would you?

He could probably get the job done, but would you want to take that risk by trusting a provider who doesn't perform that procedure on a regular basis? Especially when a specialist is right around the corner?

Just as physicians specialize to attain deeper levels of knowledge and expertise to treat specific medical conditions, HDS has chosen to serve specific healthcare providers. Each specialty has its own procedure codes and modifiers, Medicare LCDs, CCI edits, carrier-specific requirements, and other billing anomalies. As a result, a billing company that services a broad range of specialties is probably not going to achieve the results that we can because they are trying to be too many things to too many people-- they never get good at any one specialty. Just about anybody with basic computer skills can send out a claim-- the trick is getting the insurance company to pay it. Your current billing company-- or even your in-house biller-- could be costing you money due poor coding, nonexistent followup, the inability to recognize an opportunity for increased revenue, and/or a lack of knowledge on effective appeals and revenue recovery. HDS has chosen to specialize in billing for the referral specialties: office-based surgical specialties, pain management, physical and occupational therapy, mental health, some chiropractic offices, and we're good at it!

Limiting our geographical area also allows us to establish and maintain close working relationships with individuals from governmental agencies and insurance companies. Often, we know key people at an insurance carrier that can help us fix a particularly troublesome issue because we sit across from these people at local meetings. Who benefits from these relationships? Our clients do! They reap the financial rewards. Operating in this manner also allows us to concentrate our training dollars on PT- and DC- and surgical-specific coding and billing training conferences and materials, providing our clients with consistency, knowledge and higher returns. 

As part of our mission, HDS has made a corporate commitment to professional training and development.  All HDS associates are required to work toward certification as Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialists through the American Medical Billing Association. Currently we employ 100% of the CMRSs in our state!

Why do we continue to grow? There are two reasons. One, we have developed tools to ensure the growth, profitability and stability of our company. We have reinvested money into emerging technology that saves us time and money. Second, we have developed a systematic approach to medical billing that achieves the maximum level of reimbursement for our providers. Our providers are so happy we can't keep up with the referrals! We've now deliberately slowed the growth of our company to ensure that our current clients receive the quality of services that they expect and deserve.
